Draft for review by our legal adviser before launch.
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use the SafetyEvo website, staff app and office console, including people who use a screen reader, magnification, voice control or a keyboard only. We design to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we do
- Every state in the app and console has words as well as colour: red, amber and green are never the only signal.
- Pages work with the keyboard, have a skip link, and use real headings, labels and buttons.
- Animations respect the reduced motion setting on your device.
- Text and buttons are sized for touch, and the app supports dark mode.
- Pictures of the app and console have text descriptions.
- SOS needs a press and hold, not a precise tap, and alerts use sound and vibration as well as the screen.
What we know is not yet right
- Maps in the console and app cannot be fully used with a screen reader. The same information (who is on shift, alerts, last location time) is available in the lists beside the map.
- We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit. We plan one before general release.
