GPS location

Know where your people are, only while they are working

While a worker is on shift, their phone shares its location about every 30 seconds, and every few seconds during an alert. Your office sees them on a live map, with their photo, battery level and when the phone was last heard from.

Location starts with the shift and stops when it ends. It is a safety tool, not surveillance, and the system is built so it stays that way.

The problems it solves

Finding someone quickly

In an emergency, "somewhere on the estate" is not good enough.

Gaps in coverage

Signal drops leave holes in a trail just when it matters.

Staff worry about tracking

Monitoring that feels like surveillance damages trust and invites pushback.

How it works

  1. 1

    Starts with the shift

Tracking turns on when the shift starts and the app shows it is on.

  2. 2

    Buffered when offline

With no signal, points are kept on the phone and sent oldest first when it reconnects, so the trail fills in.

  3. 3

    Live map in the office

Each worker on shift appears as a pin with their photo. Alerts pulse red.

  4. 4

    Stops with the shift

Ending the shift stops tracking. Points from outside a shift are discarded by the server.

In the office console

The same moment on the office screen, with a demo company and sample names.

Office console live map: staff pins on a dark map of Leeds, an open SOS and an acknowledged SOS in the alert queue, and the list of everyone on shift with battery levels.

Key benefits

  • Every view is recorded. Each look at the live map or a past trail is written to an audit log.
  • Sensible access. Responders see trails only for shifts in progress. Older history needs a supervisor or admin.
  • Retention you set. Location trails are deleted after the period you choose, 90 days to start.

Where teams use it

  • Patrol routes for security officers
  • Field engineers between jobs
  • Care workers on a visit round
  • Drivers on rural routes

Frequently asked questions

Is location tracked outside working hours?

No. Location is collected only while a shift is open, and the app always shows when tracking is on.

How accurate is it?

It depends on the phone and surroundings. The console shows the accuracy reported by the phone, typically within a few metres outdoors.

What about battery life?

The app is tuned for a full shift and includes guidance for each Android maker’s battery settings.
